Paradigm Building Solutions announces large property purchase in the Louis Creek Industrial Park

Paradigm Building Solutions Ltd. operates a fully automated 23,000 square foot manufacturing facility on the Louis Creek Industrial Park in Barriere. They use a highly innovative technology that utilizes robotics for the building of open wall panels used in wood-constructed buildings, including larger residential and commercial projects. The facility can produce up to 1500 linear feet of open wall panels per day – the equivalent to three large single family dwellings per day.

Paradigm Building Solutions has announced the acquisition of additional land in the Louis Creek Industrial Park just south of Barriere to expand its manufacturing capacities.

The company, which provides prefabricated open and closed wall panels used in wood construction, announced Feb. 26 the facility will house new manufacturing space, a warehouse, and serve as the new corporate headquarters. The expansion will mean 35 new jobs, possibly more.

Paradigm’s CEO, Philipp Gruner, stated Monday they are extremely thankful for the support, commitment, and cooperation from the district staff, mayor and council and the community.

“With just over 65 staff, we have become a major employer in the region, and we take pride in the fact that 99 percent of our manufacturing staff in Barriere are residents,” said Gruner. “With this expansion project we anticipate our staffing to reach at least 100 employees. This investment reinforces our dedication to the District of Barriere for years to come.”

Barriere mayor Ward Stamer said Barriere is extremely pleased to be working with Paradigm in the Louis Creek Industrial Park as the district moves forward to increasing development in its industrial parks. He added he appreciates Paradigm’s commitment in their vision on the choice of Barriere for their innovative facilities and the people that are employed by Paradigm.

“As Barriere continues to grow sustainability, affordability and long-term planning, Paradigm and other like-minded companies will be important to our local economy. Congratulations to Paradigm on their expansion plans.”

Paradigm’s management team says the expansion is essential due to the “escalating demand” for the company’s high-quality, energy-efficient, and sustainable building solutions, which has resulted in the decision by the Paradigm to invest in this expansion. The company states that it remains committed to continuous improvement through research and development which they feel is exemplified by their involvement in the StokedLiving development in Revelstoke, where a high energy-efficient community is being built.

Gruner added, “We would also like to acknowledge that we currently operate on the traditional territories of the Simpcw First Nation. Many of our projects are within Indigenous communities and we are proud to contribute to providing housing to these communities.” Paradigm is actively involved in the construction and installation of 15 housing units within the Chu Chua community.

Paradigm provides high energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable building envelope panels. The company delivers turnkey residential buildings tailored to the luxury residential market, social housing, Indigenous housing or specialized housing for extreme cold climates. The components the company uses are high end European-sourced building components, which include hardwood fiberboard, cellulose insulation, and triple-pane highly energy-efficient window and door products. It is assessed that over its lifespan, a Paradigm home will consume only 10 percent of the energy compared to a conventionally constructed home. The current Paradigm operation consists of an Industry 4.0 robot-equipped, fully automated 23,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Barriere.
